Major depression is a common and potentially life-threatening disease, which seriously affects peoples work and life. At present, the main treatment for major depression is drug therapy and physical therapy, but there are still about 20%-30% of patients with major depression on the existing treatment is ineffective, known as refractory depression. In recent years, the development of Neuromodulation therapy, especially deep brain stimulation therapy, has attracted much attention. This article will review the research progress of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of refractory depression.
