[Abstract] Objective To explore the factors influencing depression in patients with hyperthyroidism. Methods In this study, 100 patients with hyperthyroidism from October 2020 to October 2022 were selected as the study population. The depression self-rating scale (SDS) was assessed and their general information as well as thyroid hormone levels were investigated. Factors influencing depression were explored by univariate and multifactorial analysis. Results There were 42 cases of hyperthyroidism combined with depression in 100 patients, and the differences in marital status and cultural level between depressed and non-depressed patients were statistically significant (P<0.05). The differences in residence and gender were not statistically significant (P>0.05). Depressed patients had significantly higher FT3 and FT4 levels, age, and duration of illness than non-depressed patients, and significantly lower TSH levels than non-depressed patients (P<0.05). Binary logistic regression line analysis showed that unmarried, elementary school and below literacy level, disease duration, FT3, FT4, and TSH levels were the influencing factors of depression in hyperthyroid patients. Conclusion The higher rate of depression in hyperthyroidism is not only influenced by the level of thyroid hormones, but also related to marriage, literacy, and the duration of the disease.
