[Abstract] Objective To explore the relationship between negative physical self, disability acceptance, appearance perfectionism and social appearance anxiety in breast cancer patients undergoing mastectomy. Methods Eighty breast cancer patients from February 2020 to January 2023 were selected as the study subjects. The patients social appearance anxiety scale (SAAS), negative physical self scale (NPS), disability acceptance scale (ADS), appearance perfectionism scale (PPAS), age, marriage and other general information were evaluated.Multiple stepwise regression analysis using SAAS score as the dependent variable. Results SAAS score of patients with breast cancer undergoing mastectomy (56.88±7.04); There was a statistically significant difference in SAAS scores among different ages, educational levels, and marital status (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in SAAS scores among different residences and tumor stages (P>0.05). SAAS score is positively correlated with NPSS score, PPAS score, and negatively correlated with ADS score (P<0.05). Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that age, education level, NPSS score, PPAS score, and ADS score were related factors to SAAS score.Conclusion Social appearance anxiety is common in breast cancer patients undergoing mastectomy, which is related to negative physical self and disability acceptance.
