【ABSTRACT】 Objective Understanding the current state of well-being and compassion fatigue among hemodialysis medical staff. Exploring the mediating effect of compassion fatigue on the perceived social support and well-being of hemodialysis medical staff. Methods In October and December 2021, a convenience sampling study was conducted to collect information about 432 hemodialysis medical staff who Perceived Social Support Scale, The Chinese version of Compassion Fatigue short scale, and World Health Organization Five-item Well-Being Index. Results Hemodialysis medical staff had a well-being score (13.37±6.15) and compassion fatigue score (51.33±25.58). Among hemodialysis staff, compassion fatigue played a partially mediating role in perceived social support and well-being, with an effect size of 38.87%. Conclusion Hemodialysis medical staff are at a moderate to low level of well-being, and compassion fatigue presents a high risk state. Hemodialysis medical staffs well-being can be improved by improving their ability to perceive social support in the future, thus reducing the risk of compassion fatigue.
