Objective To analyze the role of the professional service area of group midwifery in maternal and infant health care in hospitals. Methods Four classes of midwifery students who entered the school in the autumn of 2020 were selected as objects, and two classes (58 students in total) were randomly selected as the control group for routine training. The other two classes (60 students in total), as the observation group, rely on the professional service area of group midwifery to carry out corresponding teaching. To analyze the teaching effect and its role in maternal and infant health care. Results Compared with the control group, the observation group was superior to the control group in the mastery level of theoretical knowledge, clinical operation ability and communication ability of midwifery in the two classes, P<0.05. According to the analysis of the satisfaction of medical staff and puerpera with their daily work during the clinical practice of the two groups of students, the observation group was higher than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion In the process of training midwifery students, the reasonable use of group midwifery professional service areas to carry out all aspects of teaching work can improve students professional and technical abilities, provide more professionals for the region, and promote the development of hospital maternal and infant health care industry.
