To explore the effect of acupuncture combined with emotional intervention of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of patients in intensive care unit complicated with bed pressing and constipation, and to provide theoretical basis for the treatment of similar clinical cases. Methods 100 patients with symptoms and constipation in the intensive care unit admitted to our hospital from June 2021 to February 2023 were selected as the study subjects. The patients in the two groups were divided into the observation group (n=50) and the control group (n=50) by digital random method. The patients in the control group were treated by routine nursing mode after admission, while the patients in the observation group were additionally treated by acupuncture combined with emotional intervention of traditional Chinese medicine. The overall incidence of pressure bed and constipation, the score of pressure sore healing scale (PUSH) and the score of symptoms of constipation in traditional Chinese medicine were compared between the two groups after medical care intervention. Results The effective rate of pressure bed treatment and constipation treatment in the observation group was 90% and 92% after acupuncture combined with emotional intervention of traditional Chinese medicine, while the effective rate of treatment in the control group was 68% and 72% respectively. The difference between the two groups was significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of pressure sore healing scale (PUSH) and symptoms of constipation in the two groups were significantly improved compared with each other (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the patients in the observation group had significantly lower overall pressure sore area, 24h exudation, incomplete defecation, abdominal pain and abdominal distension, P<0.05. Conclusion Acupuncture combined with emotional intervention of traditional Chinese medicine can achieve good therapeutic effect in patients with pressure ulcers and constipation in intensive care unit, which has great clinical promotion value.
