Objective To investigate whether eradicating Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection can improve the treatment effect of oral periodontal disease. Methods The study period was from January 2021 to December 2022. A total of 104 patients with periodontal disease and Helicobacter pylori in the stomach who were treated in the Department of Stomatology and Gastroenterology of our hospital during this period were included in the study. The enrolled patients were divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 52 cases in each group. The control group was only treated for periodontal disease and did not eradicate Helicobacter pylori; The observation group received treatment for Helicobacter pylori in the gastroenterology department while treating periodontal disease. Compare the treatment effects of periodontal disease between two groups of patients. Results The effective rate of treatment was 96.15% in the observation group and 82.69% in the control group, with the observation group being higher than the control group (P<0.05). Periodontal indexes, bleeding index (SBI), periodontal probing depth (PD), and enamel cementum attachment loss (AL) levels were lower in the observation group than in the control group 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months after treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion Under the combined treatment of gastroenterology and dentistry, the recovery of periodontal disease in patients is more ideal and can be promoted and used in clinical practice.
