Objective To analyze the application effect of psychological nursing in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods 106 elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and a study group, with 53 patients in each group. The control group received routine care, while the study group received additional psychological care. SAS scores, SDS scores, pulmonary function improvement, and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups before and after nursing. Results Before nursing, there was no significant difference in various indicators and scores between the two groups of patients (P>0.05); After nursing, the SAS and SDS scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group. The maximum ventilation volume (MVV), vital capacity (VC) and forced breathing volume in one second (FEV1) of the study group were significantly better than those of the control group. The nursing satisfaction of the study group was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion: Adding psychological care to the care of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can help alleviate their negative emotions, improve their lung function, enhance their nursing satisfaction, and have important significance for their rehabilitation. It has promotional value.
